Saying goodbye, grieving, and feeling loved


Gail is gone. We said our goodbyes Tuesday evening at her funeral. She went to rehab, and as I feared, never came home.

She died on the same day she agreed to enter hospice care.

I ate a hoagie with my parents after the visitation. I got tipsy on two beers as we all remembered good times with Gail and her husband Ray who livd next door when I grew up.

Forgotten memories bubbled up. The alcohol gave added effect to the feelings.

I was very lucky growing up, surrounded by some wonderful people.

Still am. And hopefully I can be as caring towards others as they were toward me.
