My past week in running was disappointing. I ran 19 miles.
The mileage is nothing to shake a stick at. Numbers though can lie.
Of those 19, three were run on Monday on a treadmill, 3.2 miles completed for speed work on Tuesday, and 13 miles on a relatively flat-out and back on Thursday.
I hoped to get in at least 24 for the week, but failed.
I used Friday as recover and expect to run Saturday. Instead, I took photos in the morning and thought I would run at the gym in the afternoon.
I worked late. The gym closed at 7 p.m. I was wiped out due to lack of sleep when I got off of work. I opted to watch the hometown team get their collective rumps handed to them by the Texans and play video games afterward.
I feel guilty. Obviously.
I’m trying to spin this into a planned period of rest before the real work begins.
My training schedule for the upcoming week looks like this:
|Jan. 9||Jan. 10||Jan. 11||Jan. 12||Jan. 13||Jan. 14||Jan. 15|
|5-6m||REST or XT||5-6m||3-5m||REST or XT||5-7m||3-5m|
|@ Goal Pace||Hilly Run||easy||easy or rest|
There may be some modification to this (namely Monday when I run a bit of distance with the guys I have ran with). It will be interesting to see what my legs feel like after the first week of running 30 miles after averaging about 20 per week over the last few.
