Today’s photo was quite simply the result of reading my camera‘s manual. I’ve owned a Cannon EOS 1000D since Christmas 2010. Yes, 2010. After actually reading parts of the manual I learned things I knew my camera could do, but I did not know how to do. Say hello to AV settings, aperture, and depth of field focus. I’m a fan.
I took the picture above from my front porch. The star is part of a wind chime. I have a feeling the first few weeks of the picture a day project will end up being educational in nature before I get too adventurous, though I do like the natural light and detail in these pics. (The one on the right is me simply reversing the focus on the pic. And as I write this I realize I should have recorded the aperture settings I used.)
