I probably have more attachment to my nephew than many uncles have toward theirs. There are multiple reasons for this, none of which are all that important. What is important is that I got to play a big part in the little man’s life over the past three years.
Three years. It seems like it went by so fast. It was only yesterday . . . well you get the idea.
At the same time it also seems so long, as in, “was there a time before Xander?” long. There has been a lifetime of love and laughter and growth. His lifetime.
Today, my nephew turns three. I’d wish him happy birthday here, but well, you know, maybe next year.
