I am constantly amazed when I drive out into the country how many abandoned homes and barns are along the road side. Houses sit sagging, windows boarded over, shingles sliding off of roofs. It’s a shame too, because I can only imagine how nice some of these homes were in their prime. These are photos … Continue reading »

Photo a day 39: Found on city streets
I was on Monmouth Street in Newport, Ky. today running some errands, camera in tow, when I came across this salon hair dryer chair (is this what it is called?) sitting on the sidewalk for sale in front of what I assume is a pawn shop. It was just very odd sitting there. I felt … Continue reading »
Photo a day #34: Chilo Lock 34 Park
I’ve been to Chilo Lock 34 Park before. And yes, that really is the name of a park. Or, it was the name of an actual U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s lock and dam along the Ohio River in Clermont County that got turned into a park with a small museum and nature preserve. I … Continue reading »
Photo a day #33: Drive thru and suckers
I am not sure how popular Frisch’s is outside of the Greater Cincinnati area. Locally they are an invasive species of chain restaurants with an overweight adolescent as a mascot. That should tell a lot. The restaurant’s architect does know their business though. I’m ashamed to admit I went with this photo over many more simply … Continue reading »
Post a day (27/366): Let’s all feng shui tonight
Okay, there is nothing super exciting about these two photos. Quite simply this is a photo of a plant from my grandmother’s funeral in 2010 that I managed to keep alive for over a year and a half now. It is in definite need of pruning and some care, but it seems to be doing … Continue reading »
Photo a day (21/366): The Ice Storm
A minor ice storm struck where I live over night. It was nothing like the one in the depressing 1997 movie starring Kevin Kline. I took pictures of the ice. Continue reading »
Photo a day (17/366): Backyard after a rain
Down pours, flooding, gray skies most of the day. Temperatures in the mid-50s compared to the 20s and teens over the weekend. This winter is odd. I took a few minutes to shoot some photos in my backyard after the rain stopped. Continue reading »
Photo a day (14/366): Historic views
Today was busy. Early morning long run, nap, lunch, and then work. Along the way to work I managed a few shots of a neighborhood I often forget about, but pass each day. Continue reading »
Photo a day (13/366): A wintry mix
What a difference a day makes. Temperatures fell to the upper teens today. My thought? Go outside, get some winter weather pix.
I thought a small park near where I grew up would be an interesting place to shoot — bright-colored equipment, gray skies, and ice. Continue reading »
Photo a day (12/366): Rainy day drive by photography
I had no plan for pictures today. I worried I wouldn’t find one, much less many. Still, with camera in hand and eyes peeled I managed a few I like. Continue reading »
