As an editor I don’t always get to write too much. When I do, it’s typically features on the fly. The following are a couple of story links and a little of what I am doing social media-wise after that:
Duo rocks as ‘Cougar Ace’
For Joel Caithamer and Shawn Fry the thought to create their own rock band was simple enough.
“I decided I wanted to buy an amplifier again,” said Caithamer. “I think probably we just started talking. We borrowed a drum set. We did some simple cover songs.”
And since then, around 2008 Fry and Caithamer believe, the duo who worked together at the Independence branch of the Kenton County Library since 2005, travel around the region as Cougar Ace.
Camp offers participants many ‘secret adventures’
Sometimes all it takes is a spark to influence the lives of adolescences.
“Basically, Catherine Sherron, a philosophy professor and head of honors program, has a couple of nieces and nephews and she decided they could benefit from some enriching activities when they visited last summer,” said Stacy Smith Rogers, Director of Communications & Public Relations at Thomas More College.
So, Sherron gathered a few professors and offered her young relatives a “secret camp.”
Rain puts damper on Kenton Paw Park plans
There will be some sad puppies this weekend as continued heavy rains forced the Friends of the Kenton County Paw Park to cancel its annual Paw Park Pool Party.
“We hired a local landscape company to come in and do clean up after the last major flood (in April),” said Paw Park board member Jeff King. “They were within three days of completing the clean up and then the park got flooded again.”
