Paper mache
Be it at work, home, or in the car I often find myself jotting down names of books, authors, articles, artists, songs, or magazines I come across on the radio, Internet readings, or through friends.
Typically I use whatever scrap piece of paper is on hand, even though I have an iPhone I know has an app for that. (Writing it all down still feels more convenient)
I usually take these scraps of paper and pocket them after scribbling. I would say about 2/3rds of the time the notes end up in the washer with my clothes and then the dryer. I end up with a small pile of paper mache lost inspiration in my lint vent.
Just how often I do this hit me as I pocketed a small scrap of paper reminding myself to check out Oxford American’s music edition at the book store this weekend. I looked at my shirt pocket and finally realized where the white fibers dotting my deep blue button down shirt that have been pissing me off all day came from. I washed the shirt last week.
Embarrassing.
